About the Book Studio
The Book Studio is a small quiet corner of the Printmedia & Drawing Workshop within the Australian National University School of Art, Canberra.
Studio resources include a large intaglio press, relief print drying racks, an intaglio print drying cupboard, Graphix cylinder proofing letterpress, 12 cabinets of metal type, a number of drawers of woodtype, two guillotines (one for boxboard, one for books), assorted bookbinding tools and a small display area.
These resources are used by Honours and Postgraduate students, Staff, Visiting Artists and Alumni Artists-in-Residence. The undergraduate “Book” Complimentary unit is held here one day a week, and we hold the occasional public workshop on letterpress or bookbinding.
The lecturer-in-charge is Patsy Payne, and the Studio Technical Officer is Caren Florance.
